Strive Bitcoin Purchase Hits 3,311 BTC Worth $280 Million, Largest Since January

The latest Strive bitcoin purchase is the kind of filing that makes corporate treasurers reach for the antacids and everyone else reach for a calculator. The Nasdaq-listed firm (ASST) acquired 3,311 BTC between October 5 and 9 for roughly $280 million, according to an 8-K filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission – its largest single Bitcoin increase since January, when its all-stock merger with Semler Scientific added about 5,048 BTC.

Take the average across the acquisition window and the new coins landed around $84,500 apiece – a meaningful bet to place while Bitcoin chops between $81,000 and $84,000 on CPI eve. Buying the range instead of waiting for it is a choice.

Inside the Strive bitcoin purchase

The buy lifts Strive’s treasury to 32,773 BTC as of October 9, a stack worth well north of $2.7 billion at current prices. CEO Matt Cole has said the company aims to finish 2026 as the world’s second-largest public Bitcoin holder, closing the gap with MARA Holdings – and on this evidence, that target is being treated as a schedule rather than a wish.

Strive has form here: the firm raised capital through a $500 million preferred stock offering late last year to fuel treasury expansion, and the Semler merger earlier in 2026 added more than five thousand coins in one stroke. The through-line is consistent – accumulate aggressively, disclose promptly, and let the market do the arithmetic.

The timing also puts Strive in interesting company this week. A dormant whale moved $378 million of six-year-old Bitcoin this morning, spot ETFs have seen fresh outflows, and tomorrow’s U.S. CPI print sets the macro tone for the rest of October. Treasury buyers are clearly not waiting for a softer print.

One caveat the 8-K itself flags: exact per-BTC cost wasn’t itemized beyond the aggregate – the $84,500 figure is a window average, not a trade blotter. Either way, the direction of travel is unambiguous. When a company’s stated ambition is to become the market’s second-biggest corporate holder, 3,311 coins at a time is not a rounding error – it’s the plan.
