Anthropic IPO Valuation Slips to $1.5 Trillion Talk After $16.8B Q3 Revenue

The Anthropic IPO valuation is suddenly a negotiation again: after telling investors it was marketing a share sale near $2 trillion, the company’s investor day in San Francisco produced a cooler number – roughly $1.5 trillion, according to attendees who spoke with Reuters and CNBC. Same blockbuster listing, smaller halo.

The reset comes with genuinely strong operating numbers attached, which is what makes the discount interesting. This is not a company talking up weakness; it is a company talking up strength that markets decided was slightly less infinite than last week’s headline.

Anthropic IPO Valuation: The Numbers Behind the Trim

Anthropic reported third-quarter revenue of $16.8 billion, up 45% sequentially – a sharp deceleration from Q2, when revenue more than doubled from Q1’s tallies to $11.6 billion. The company told prospective IPO investors it was profitable on an adjusted basis in Q3. Investors at the San Francisco event also indicated they expect roughly $110 billion in annualized revenue by year-end, per figures cited by CNBC from The Wall Street Journal.

Against those numbers, the step down from ~$2 trillion to ~$1.5 trillion reads less like skepticism and more like a market doing compound-interest homework. Sequencing growth is impressive; sequencing it while the base is already measured in tens of billions is a different math problem.

Why the $2T Story Became a $1.5T Story

Anthropic’s own filing history keeps the tension visible: the IPO prospectus showed a $42 billion net loss in 2025 against revenue that grew twelvefold to $4.6 billion, with two customers carrying an outsized share of the total. Adjusted profitability in Q3 is the counterargument; customer concentration and cash burn are the footnote that refuses to be small.

For context, our earlier coverage noted the company was marketing the sale near $2 trillion – Anthropic Tells Investors It Is Marketing an IPO Near $2 Trillion This Week. What changed between that headline and this one is not revenue; it is where marginal buyers anchor when the valuation math gets shared out loud.

What It Means for the November Share Sale

A November listing still appears to be the plan, with investors discussing pricing around the new figure rather than the old one. If $1.5 trillion proves to be the clearing level, it sets a cleaner reference point for every AI listing that follows – and a useful reminder that even in the hottest IPO market in years, the buyer still gets a vote.
