The great tokenization gold rush just got a scorecard, and the report card is bracing: RWA tokenization has ballooned to roughly $60 billion across more than 7,000 products and 12 asset classes – but exactly one of those classes is actually built for prime time.
BeInCrypto Research, published October 10 via Yahoo Finance, spent the numbers so the rest of us don’t have to. The verdict: tokenized US Treasuries are the only production-grade, mature asset class in the entire RWA stack. Everyone else is still rehearsing.
Tokenized Treasuries: The One Grown-Up at the RWA Party
Tokenized US Treasuries now account for about $15 billion across 100 assets, with 16 products each clearing $100 million. That depth matters: daily settlement, institutional counterparties and regulatory clarity favor the boring, yield-bearing end of the spectrum – which turns out to be exactly what on-chain capital wants when it grows up.
The contrast with real estate is unflattering. Tokenized property sits near $457 million and has actually shrunk year-to-date in 2026, suggesting that “your apartment, but on a blockchain” was a harder sell than the pitch decks implied. The research also flags a structural quirk: 97% of tokenized asset value sits outside the reach of US retail investors – the market is scaling, just not for the audience that writes the loudest threads.
Why This RWA Tokenization Data Matters Now
Timing is everything. The DTCC is running a tokenized securities trading pilot with more than 50 major firms, with a possible commercial launch targeted for October 2026 – the closest thing yet to traditional market infrastructure waving the settlement layer through. Treasuries first, everything else later is starting to look less like a slogan and more like a sequence.
The unglamorous conclusion: RWA tokenization’s winning use case so far is the one nobody puts on a hoodie – government debt, tokenized, yield delivered. Prime time has arrived. It just came dressed in a suit.
