The latest Strategy bitcoin purchase is in, and the buying pause everyone keeps predicting remains very much on hold: the company added 811 BTC for roughly $65.5 million between October 26 and November 1, according to a Form 8-K filed with the SEC on November 2.
The average cost of the batch was about $80,846 per coin. After the purchase, Strategy’s treasury holds 849,327 BTC – more than 4% of Bitcoin’s eventual 21 million supply. Diversification was never really the plan.
Strategy bitcoin purchase details: cost basis, reserves and the STRC buyback
The filing puts the total cost basis at roughly $64 billion, an average of about $75,451 across all holdings, with a mark-to-market portfolio value near $65.9 billion at Bitcoin’s reported price around $77,725. Alongside the coin buy, Strategy repurchased roughly 2.1 million STRC preferred shares for about $208 million from its USD cash reserve, and reported about $4.9 billion in total USD assets as of November 1 – $4.79 billion of that in reserve and about $132.7 million in cash.
The company also reported third-quarter net income of roughly $19.5 billion, compared with $2.79 billion in the same quarter last year, per secondary reporting of the earnings figures. Treasury figures were confirmed by multiple outlets citing the November 2 filing; Strategy’s official ledger page was not directly accessible at the time of writing, so the numbers above stick to what the filing and corroborating reports actually say.
A patient buyer in a nervous market
The timing is not accidental theater, but it is not reckless either. Bitcoin was trading near $77,900 on November 2, still absorbing the record Binance hack and the largest single-day ETF outflow since June – about $643 million on Friday’s session. Corporate accumulation has been one of the few steady bids in a week where nearly every other buyer looked shaky.
Whether 811 coins moves the needle depends on your definition of needle: against more than $58 billion in daily trading volume, it is a rounding error with excellent branding. But the pattern – buy every week, publish every 8-K, let the ledger do the talking – continues to be Strategy’s most reliable product.
