Stablecoin Card Spending Hits $1.37 Billion in October as Visa Program Count Tops 160

Stablecoin card spending reached a fresh record in October: $1.37 billion across roughly 12.9 million transactions, according to Paymentscan’s dashboard (updated November 1). That pushes the monthly total past the $1 billion mark it first cleared in July – $1.224 billion in September, $1.37 billion in October – a climb that makes stablecoins quietly boring in the best possible way: they are starting to behave like payment infrastructure instead of a science project.

The Numbers

  • $1.37 billion – October 2026 stablecoin card volume across the 30 programs Paymentscan tracks, all networks combined.
  • 12,943,644 – transactions in the month, implying an average ticket around $106.
  • September: $1.224 billion – the prior record, now beaten by ~12%.

Visa’s Side of the Ledger

Visa reported more than 160 stablecoin-linked card programs live on its network as of fiscal Q2 2026, with payment volume on those programs up nearly 200% year over year. Stablecoin settlement on its rails has surpassed a $20 billion annualized run rate – up more than 15x year over year – and roughly 17% of year-to-date stablecoin-linked card volume came from business and commercial programs: treasury management and cross-border commerce, not just consumer spend. Note the scope difference: Paymentscan’s $1.37 billion spans 30 tracked programs across all networks; Visa’s 160+ count is Visa-only issuer programs. Different yardsticks, same direction.

From Hype to Rails

Crypto card spend has grown nearly 2,000-fold since 2023, and Visa carries more than 90% of on-chain crypto card volume by one estimate. The unglamorous truth underneath the record: merchants still receive fiat through existing card networks. The stablecoin leg sits in the middle of the flow – and that is precisely why the volume keeps compounding. Nobody needs a whitepaper to spend a dollar; they just need the rails to work.
