Matrixdock and Techtanium Team Up to Push RWA Tokenization Into Banks

Banks have spent a decade keeping blockchain at arm’s length. The Matrixdock Techtanium partnership wants to close that distance without ripping out a single core banking system. Matrixdock, the real-world asset tokenization arm of BIT Group (formerly Matrixport), and Singapore fintech Techtanium signed a strategic MOU on November 5 to route tokenized RWAs into institutional finance through Techtanium’s Digital Finance OS (DFOS).

The agreement pairs Matrixdock’s asset tokenization, reserve management and on-chain settlement stack with DFOS’s Unified Core and Super Gateway – the connective tissue that links legacy core banking, payments and ledgers to digital finance services. In plain terms: banks get to keep their plumbing and still offer tokenized products.

What the Matrixdock Techtanium deal actually covers

The MOU is exploratory and non-binding – no launch dates, no named bank clients, no contract value – but its target list is specific: RWA products and integration models for banks, access to new asset classes and institutional liquidity, and bank-issued products such as tokenized deposits. Matrixdock brings its proven lineup to the table: XAUm tokenized gold, XAGm tokenized silver, and STBT backed by short-term U.S. Treasuries.

Signatories Eva Meng (Head of Matrixdock) and Dai Ke (CEO of Techtanium) frame the pairing as a bridge rather than a replacement – financial institutions keep running existing infrastructure while gaining on-chain settlement and new revenue models.

Why banks are the real RWA battleground

The timing is no accident. Tokenized U.S. Treasuries have become the only production-grade RWA class at roughly $15 billion, the broader market sits near $39 billion, and regulators from the SEC to Congress are drafting the rules of the road. Whoever makes tokenization a config option inside core banking wins the next distribution cycle.

Asia is moving first: Singapore’s Matrixdock has custody and physical redemption for its metals products, while Techtanium already powers bank stacks across the region. If the exploratory phase converts to product, the winners won’t be the chains – they’ll be the banks that never had to choose sides.
