5 Tokens to Watch This Week: Unlocks, an ETF Clock & Ethereum’s Upgrade (28 Jul-2 Aug 2026)

Published 25 July 2026. This article is journalism, not financial advice. It describes scheduled events — it is not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset. Crypto is high-risk and volatile; token unlocks in particular often add sell pressure. Do your own research and consult a licensed advisor. See our Editorial Policy.

“Tokens to watch” does not mean “tokens to buy.” The five below are on the radar for the week of 28 July – 2 August 2026 because each has a concrete, verifiable catalyst — a scheduled unlock, an upgrade milestone, or a regulatory clock — that tends to drive attention, volume and volatility in either direction. We flag what is actually happening and when; what it does to price is nobody’s to promise.

How to read this

  • Unlocks are usually a supply headwind. New tokens entering circulation can pressure price down, not up — a risk event to watch, not a rally signal.
  • Upgrades and regulatory dates cut both ways. “Sell the news” is as common as “buy the rumour.”
  • Always confirm dates against a live tracker before acting — schedules slip.

1. Cardano (ADA) — the ETF-eligibility clock

Catalyst: CME ADA futures went live on 9 February 2026, starting the six-month regulated-futures period that precedes a streamlined spot-ETF path — making 9 August 2026 the eligibility date. Input Output has also said it will begin handing core infrastructure to independent teams in August.

What to watch: any ETF filing activity as 9 August approaches, and the mechanics of the IO handover. Risk: “eligibility” is not “approval” — a date passing without a filing can disappoint.

2. Sui (SUI) — a scheduled unlock on 1 August

Catalyst: Sui’s next token unlock is scheduled for 1 August 2026, landing in the week ahead. Sui is a major layer-1 with meaningful ongoing emissions.

What to watch: the unlock’s size relative to circulating supply and how much flows to exchanges. Risk: large cliff unlocks can add near-term sell pressure.

3. Ethereum (ETH) — Glamsterdam testnet progress

Catalyst: Ethereum’s Glamsterdam upgrade — its first base-layer hard fork since The Merge — targets public testnet deployment for July/August 2026 (EIP-7732 ePBS, EIP-7928 block-level access lists).

What to watch: testnet deployment and timeline signals — a milestone watch, not a mainnet event. Risk: testnet dates commonly slip; mainnet is still months out.

4. Worldcoin (WLD) — a shifting unlock schedule

Catalyst: WLD has carried heavy ongoing daily unlocks through July, with a change to its unlock rate noted around 24 July. Circulating-supply dynamics are the story rather than any single cliff.

What to watch: whether the pace of new supply eases and how sentiment responds. Risk: persistent daily emissions are a structural supply headwind.

5. Aptos (APT) — a large-scale emission

Catalyst: Aptos is among the major layer-1s flagged for a sizeable unlock in the week ahead, with roughly two-thirds of supply already released.

What to watch: the unlock’s size versus daily volume, and exchange inflows. Risk: like all unlock plays, this is a supply event — a headwind, not a guarantee.
