Polygon Puts Solana Stablecoin Payments on Bank Rails With Open Money Stack

Polygon has brought its Open Money Stack to Solana, and the Solana stablecoin payments pitch is straightforward: businesses keep settling stablecoins on Solana while Polygon handles the awkward part – connecting to bank accounts, cards, cash-out locations and payout rails through a single API and one commercial relationship. The integration was announced October 29.

One API, two ecosystems

Under the hood, companies on Solana can now accept funding via bank card, cash or crypto, hold USDC, USDT and PYUSD in embedded or custodial wallets, route and convert assets across Solana, Polygon, Ethereum, TRON and other EVM chains, and pay out to bank accounts, cards or wallets – without touching bridges directly, and without assembling a money transmitter license stack for every corridor. Polygon finalizes transfers in under two seconds; stablecoin settlement stays on Solana.

It is not a chain merger – it is plumbing. Solana Foundation payments lead Jamal Raees, formerly of Polygon, framed it as giving companies Polygon’s regulated payment services without leaving Solana, while Polygon’s Aishwary Gupta noted that businesses should not have to rebuild payments infrastructure for every network they touch.

Kira proves the cross-border use case

Cross-border payments fintech Kira is among the first adopters, using Solana for stablecoin transfers and Polygon’s banking connections to convert them into dollars in clients’ bank accounts so they can pay overseas suppliers. CEO Edrizio De La Cruz’s version: turning transfers into dollars his clients – fintechs, OTC desks and import brokers – need to pay suppliers. Context: Polygon’s Coinme acquisition added 37 state money transmitter licenses, giving the stack payout coverage across 48 U.S. states, and TRON joined the Open Money Stack earlier in October.

What is still undisclosed

Pricing, fee schedules and non-U.S. payout corridors – including any AED or UAE coverage – were not disclosed; access runs through a demo request. Solana’s 2026 stablecoin volume is quoted above $5.5 trillion by the Solana Foundation, so the plumbing matters: whoever owns the on-ramp and off-ramp owns the margin. Whether the stack reaches the Gulf is a conversation for another announcement.
