Ethereum co-creator Vitalik Buterin has once again converted a portion of his memecoin holdings into Ether, fulfilling his promise to donate the proceeds to charity. According to blockchain analytics firm Spot On Chain, Buterin recently sold $1.6 million worth of memecoins, including Moo Deng, Monsterra, and ETHEREUM IS GOOD, and converted them into Ether.
This brings his total memecoin conversions and donations over the past nine days to $2.78 million and $884,000, respectively. Buterin has consistently advocated for the positive impact of memecoins, emphasizing their potential to fund public projects and improve the lives of people in lower-income countries.
While praising memecoin issuers for sending him tokens, Buterin has encouraged them to consider donating directly to charitable causes. His recent donations, including a significant contribution to an anti-airborne-disease technology organization, demonstrate his commitment to using his influence and resources for the betterment of society.
Despite his ongoing memecoin donations, Buterin's crypto portfolio still includes a substantial amount of memecoin tokens, such as MOODENG, Neiro, and MSTR. His continued involvement in the memecoin space highlights his belief in their potential to contribute positively to society.
Meanwhile, Buterin's contributions to the Ethereum ecosystem have not gone unnoticed. Economists Tyler Cowen and Alex Tabarrok have suggested that he should be considered for the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for his pioneering work in blockchain technology.
