Future Pi Network ETF: Possibility and Prerequisites

The idea of a Pi Network ETF (Exchange-Traded Fund) is gaining attention, even though no official filings or plans exist currently. A regulated PI ETF is not yet a reality.

When Could a PI ETF Become Possible?

According to an ActuFinance analyst, the Pi Network must satisfy several critical institutional requirements before an ETF can be considered:

  • Market Price Requirement: The asset needs a public and widely accepted market price. While PI has a visible price now, it must continue to develop a stable and transparent market.
  • Liquidity Levels: There must be strong liquidity to ensure ETF issuers can buy and sell large volumes of the asset. Currently, PI’s trading volume is significantly lower than major cryptocurrencies, which poses a challenge.
  • Regulatory Maturity: Regulators require the asset to be verifiable, trackable, and protected against manipulation. PI must demonstrate the necessary maturity and compliance for institutional adoption.
  • Custodian Requirement: A functioning ETF requires a regulated custodian to securely store the tokens. Currently, no traditional financial institution can hold PI in a regulated manner. Custodian approval and full network accessibility are prerequisites.

How a Future PI ETF Would Function

If PI coin achieves full listing, openness, and stability, an ETF could be created.

  • The ETF issuer would hold actual PI tokens secured by a regulated custodian.
  • The ETF’s price would track PI’s market value, allowing standard investors to gain exposure through traditional brokerage accounts.
  • Such a product could increase liquidity, attract investors, and boost recognition, but it would also introduce greater regulatory scrutiny and faster market reactions.

Pi Coin Price Action

  • Over the last seven days, Pi has seen a 10% gain, outperforming many other top cryptos.
  • This spike is attributed to rumors of a major update scheduled for November 28.
  • A significant short-term driver is the expected MiCA-compliant listing on OKX Europe on November 28, 2025, which is anticipated to impact PI’s trading volume, liquidity, and price.
