Antonio Villaraigosa, the former Mayor of Los Angeles, has joined Coinbase as a policy advisor, focusing on promoting global economic freedom, particularly within underbanked communities. Faryar Shirzad, Coinbase’s Chief Policy Officer, emphasized the need for banking system reform to better serve Black and Hispanic populations. While Villaraigosa will advise on regulatory frameworks for U.S. customers, he will not engage in lobbying efforts.
Rodrigo Seira, previously with crypto venture firm Paradigm, has returned to Cooley LLP, where he will resume traditional legal work after leading policy initiatives at Paradigm.
