Spot Bitcoin ETFs Accumulation Outpaces Miner Production

Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the US gobbled up significantly more Bitcoin than miners produced in December 2024.

  • ETFs amassed 51,500 BTC, according to data from Apollo and BiTBO.
  • Miners only produced 13,850 BTC, highlighting strong ETF demand.
  • This trend suggests there’s not enough supply to meet demand at current prices.

Bitcoin ETF Inflows Surge

The momentum continued in January 2025, with significant Bitcoin ETF inflows:

  • Over $900 million worth of Bitcoin was acquired on January 3rd.
  • Nearly $1 billion in inflows are expected for January 6th (preliminary data).

Major Bitcoin Miner Production

Several major Bitcoin mining companies reported their December production figures:

  • Marathon Digital: 9,457 BTC (largest miner by market cap)
  • Riot: 516 BTC (4% increase from November)
  • Cleanspark: 668 BTC
  • Core Scientific: 291 BTC
  • Bitfarms: 211 BTC
  • Terawulf: 158 BTC
  • BitFuFu (cloud mining): 111 BTC
