ACI Worldwide, a Nasdaq-listed veteran in payments infrastructure, has forged a strategic partnership with cryptocurrency payment processor BitPay to significantly boost its digital asset capabilities for merchants and payment service providers (PSPs).
Under the agreement, ACI will integrate BitPay’s crypto payment solution into its Payments Orchestration Platform. This integration will allow ACI’s clients to seamlessly accept, manage, and settle transactions using popular digital currencies and regulated stablecoins, alongside existing traditional payment methods.
This collaboration is designed to bridge fiat and digital rails, supporting settlement in both fiat currency and stablecoins, which provides merchants with greater flexibility, particularly in cross-border and B2B settlements. ACI noted this move is driven by the fact that roughly 55% of global retailers are currently evaluating cryptocurrency acceptance.
For ACI, this partnership is a key part of its broader strategy to become “rail-agnostic” in the evolving digital payments landscape. For BitPay, the deal grants direct access to ACI’s extensive merchant and PSP customer base, positioning it as a core partner for large-scale payment orchestration platforms and accelerating its footprint globally. The ability to offer fiat and stablecoin settlement is expected to make the solution more appealing to risk-averse merchants.
