Following a tentative agreement between the European Council and Parliament to include the cryptocurrency market within the EU’s strict anti-money laundering regulations, this development has taken place.
On March 19, Patrick Breyer, the European Parliament representative for the Piratenpartei Deutschland (Pirate Party of Germany), announced via an X post that the majority of the Parliament’s main committees had approved this legislative change.

The legislation specifically targets third-party custodial cryptocurrency wallets, such as centralized trading platforms.
