FTX Founder’s Luxury Jets May Be Sold Early to Prevent Losses Ahead of Sentencing

The aircraft’s original purchase prices were $15.9 million and $12.5 million, respectively, although the exact financial details are still unknown.

Prosecutors are moving to liquidate two opulent airplanes before concluding forfeiture processes in a recent development in the US government’s legal struggle with Sam “SBF” Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of FTX.

The action was described in a March 22 filing with the U.S. The District Court for the Southern District of New York was established as a result of U.S. To lessen the financial losses on two planes connected to FTX and Bankman-Fried, attorney Damian Williams was involved.

A Bombardier Global and an Embraer Legacy, which were earlier marked in October 2023 as potentially subject to seizure because of their association with Bankman-criminal Fried’s operations, are the assets in question and the government’s plan seeks to handle their depreciation.

The aircraft’s original purchase prices were $15.9 million and $12.5 million, respectively, although the exact financial details are still unknown.

However, the prosecution intends to set aside up to $1.8 million for their upkeep and an extra $183,000 for the transfer of the Embraer Legacy, provided that the returns from sales are sufficient.

Following a court order, the USMS had already taken possession of Bombardier Global earlier in February 2023.

These planes are just a small portion of the assets associated with Bankman-Fried that are subject to confiscation as a result of his conviction on several criminal offenses.

In March, a list of assets was made public, which included cryptocurrency holdings, shares in Robinhood, and political contributions made by SBF while he was employed at FTX.
