Memecoin Breakout Unwinds as WIF, PEPE, and DOGE Retest Key Levels

The October memecoin breakout trade is fighting for survival after the October 8 flush. What looked like a clean multi-token reversal in late September is now a retest of neckline support — and two of the three majors are already trading below their lines in the sand.

The timing is not subtle. The same session that produced $1.16 billion in long liquidations also put the technical setups that defined the rally squarely back on the table.

The memecoin breakout setups that fired in late September

Dogwifhat (WIF): a nine-month inverse head-and-shoulders with a $0.2322 neckline. The breakout came on volume of 32.2 million WIF, more than double the 20-day average of 14.1 million, and carried roughly 30% monthly gains into October. Chartists had priced a 0.5 Fibonacci target at $0.4319, about 69% above the neckline, with failure support at $0.1732.

Pepe (PEPE): an inverse head-and-shoulders pattern that cooked from February through September 2026, clearing a $0.00000456 neckline on 17.65 trillion PEPE in volume — about twice the 20-day average of 9.54 trillion. The measured move pointed to $0.00000935, roughly 88% upside, with defensive levels at $0.00000413 and $0.00000320.

Dogecoin (DOGE): a textbook double bottom with a $0.095 neckline, broken from a roughly $0.098 pivot and targeting $0.1156. Support sat at $0.0839, then $0.0782.

All three shared the same footnote in every analysis: these are bullish reversal setups that only stay bullish as long as the neckline holds.

Where the levels stand after October 8

Dogecoin traded $0.083 to $0.087 on October 8 and 9, which puts it below its $0.095 neckline. By the pattern’s own rules, a daily close down there invalidates the double bottom. Dogwifhat fetched around $0.2114 on Bybit on October 9, also under its $0.2322 neckline. Pepe’s line in the sand is the $0.00000456 mark that flipped from resistance to support in late September; whether it sticks is the question traders are watching into the weekend.

The macro backdrop does not help. Spot Bitcoin ETFs bled nearly $485 million on October 7, Ether ETFs have posted outflows every trading day since September 29, and hawkish Fed expectations keep pressing on risk assets generally.

A new class keeps launching mid-storm

Variety, at least, is not in shortage. Super Inu Force launched October 4 on Robinhood Chain and set an all-time high near $0.021 a day later. Meme Agency went live the same day on Solana via Pump.fun and graduated within hours. PunchCard began trading October 1 and was back near $0.000045 by October 6. Useless Coin climbed more than 135% over the month to a market capitalization around $250 million, and DogeOS — an EVM-compatible application layer for Dogecoin — is in testnet.

Fresh launches in a falling tape are contract-verification territory: liquidity is thin, promotional accounts are loud, and the only chart pattern that matters on day one is whether the sell button works.

For now the memecoin breakout trade lives on borrowed time. Necklines don’t negotiate — they either hold or they don’t.
