Convenience store chain Sheetz is running a new promotion to encourage crypto payments. Dubbed “Crypto Crave & Save,” the deal offers customers a 50% discount on their entire purchase when they pay with cryptocurrency through the Flexa network. The promotion is available daily between 3 PM and 7 PM at participating Sheetz locations.
Sheetz, a popular, family-owned chain founded in 1952, is known for its round-the-clock service offering fuel, food, and convenience items. This move aligns with a broader trend of major retailers embracing crypto for payments. Flexa, the payment network facilitating the deal, is designed to make crypto transactions seamless and secure by instantly converting digital assets into fiat at the point of sale.
This isn’t an isolated event in the retail space. Steak ‘n Shake recently announced that it is saving nearly 50% on payment processing fees by accepting Bitcoin via the Lightning Network. The fast-food chain, which now accepts Bitcoin payments at its global locations, has also extended this option to franchise purchases. Steak ‘n Shake executive Dan Edwards noted that Bitcoin transactions are faster than traditional credit card payments.
