Amid increasing global uncertainty, Tether Gold (XAUt), Tether’s gold-backed digital token, is experiencing a significant surge in investor interest. Backed by 7.66 tons of physical gold, XAUt’s market capitalization has now exceeded $800 million, as confirmed by a Q2 attestation from BDO Italia.
With over 259,000 XAUt tokens currently in circulation, each representing one troy ounce of physical gold, the token’s price closely mirrors that of spot gold, which is currently just under $3,400 per ounce—marking a 40% increase over the past year.
XAUt offers investors the stability of physical gold combined with the speed and flexibility of blockchain technology, providing on-chain access to this traditional store of value. The token is actively traded on major exchanges like Bitfinex, Bybit, KuCoin, and BingX, and has recently expanded its reach into Thailand via Maxbit.
Tether is also advancing XAUt’s interoperability by launching an omnichain version through the USDT liquidity network on The Open Network (TON), further integrating traditional commodities with blockchain efficiency.
