Ethereum’s Pectra Upgrade Targets March 2025 Launch

Ethereum developers are setting their sights on a March 2025 launch for the Pectra network upgrade, with key milestones ahead. New client software releases and testnet hard forks are expected in February. The upgrade aims to improve user experience and network efficiency through several Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs).

  • Target launch in March 2025, following successful testnet deployments in February.
  • Focus on improving user experience in crypto wallets and account abstraction.
  • Increase maximum validator stake limit from 32 to 2,048 ETH.
  • Update deposit and exit mechanisms for validators.

The Pectra upgrade has been in development for some time, with its scope expanding to encompass a wider range of improvements. Developers have utilized short-duration devnets and a temporary Mekong testnet for focused testing throughout the process.
