The TON blockchain, known for its association with the popular messaging app Telegram, has announced the development of a new layer-2 network called the TON Applications Chain (TAC). The announcement was made during the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) held in Brussels, Belgium on Tuesday.

TAC aims to enhance the TON blockchain ecosystem by incorporating two key technologies from Polygon:

  • Chain Development Kit (CDK): This customizable toolkit enables developers to build their own layer-2 blockchains based on Polygon's zero-knowledge technology.
  • AggLayer: Polygon's interoperability layer designed to address blockchain fragmentation.

By leveraging Polygon's CDK, TAC will enable the seamless integration of Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-based decentralized applications into the TON ecosystem. This move will open up new possibilities for Ethereum developers to create innovative applications tailored for Telegram's vast user base.

The integration of Polygon's AggLayer will further enhance TAC's capabilities by facilitating seamless communication and interaction with other blockchain networks. This interoperability feature is crucial for the broader adoption of decentralized applications and the growth of the Web3 ecosystem.

The TON Foundation, the organization behind the TON blockchain, expressed their excitement about the collaboration with Polygon, stating that it will significantly accelerate the development of decentralized applications on the TON network.

The launch of TAC is expected to attract a wider range of developers and users to the TON blockchain, further solidifying its position as a leading player in the Web3 space.
