On August 29, 2024, Osaka Governor Yoshimura Hirofumi delivered a dynamic video message at the international Web3 conference "WebX," organized by CoinPost Co., Ltd. and hosted by the WebX Executive Committee. In his address, Governor Yoshimura expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming WebX session scheduled for August 2025, which will coincide with the EXPO 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, running from April to October 2025.

Governor Yoshimura anticipates that this session will foster global interactions among Web3 and fintech developers, potentially leading to groundbreaking innovations aimed at resolving social issues. He highlighted the Expo's role as a catalyst for Osaka's ambition to become a prominent international financial hub. "I hope that the synergistic effects of the Expo and WebX will create an event that draws global attention," Yoshimura said.

Osaka Prefecture is actively working to transform itself into an international financial city. The city is enhancing its financial infrastructure and aiming to attract leading domestic and international firms to establish a fintech center. Governor Yoshimura emphasized the importance of strengthening the financial ecosystem to drive economic growth and the need to attract people, goods, and capital.

Additionally, Osaka has been designated a special asset management zone by the Japanese government. This status enables the city to support foreign companies in obtaining licenses and navigating administrative processes for entering the Japanese market. The goal is to create a competitive global business environment and foster innovation through collaboration between local and international companies.

Governor Yoshimura invited attendees to visit Osaka for the WebX session next August, encouraging them to explore the city's business opportunities and contribute to its innovation landscape. "Osaka welcomes companies ready to take on challenges in the Web3 field," he affirmed.

Looking ahead, the EXPO 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo aims to feature participation from 160 countries, 25 international organizations, and various civic and private sector groups. The Expo seeks to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and envision future societal advancements. Starting in October 2023, the Expo will introduce a digital wallet service to encourage cashless transactions, build excitement, and deepen understanding of the Expo’s themes of digital innovation and future-oriented action.
