El Salvador has significantly increased its Bitcoin holdings, bringing its total reserves to over 6,000 BTC. This latest purchase solidifies the country's position as a leading adopter of cryptocurrency, joining a select group of nations with substantial Bitcoin reserves, including the United States, China, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, and Bhutan.

The recent acquisition, made at an average price of $45,450 per coin, brings the total value of El Salvador's Bitcoin holdings to approximately $569.3 million. This represents a 108% increase in its crypto investment, demonstrating a strong commitment to integrating Bitcoin into its financial management strategy.

The country has consistently acquired Bitcoin, including regular purchases of one Bitcoin per day. Notably, following a $1.4 billion deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), El Salvador made substantial single-day purchases, including a $1 million buy on December 22.

Despite facing international criticism, particularly from the IMF, for its aggressive Bitcoin investment strategy, El Salvador remains steadfast in its commitment. Stacy Herbert, Director of the National Bitcoin Office, reiterated that the country will continue to accumulate Bitcoin at an accelerated pace to build its Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and has no plans to sell its holdings.
