At the recent Bitcoin MENA conference in Abu Dhabi, Changpeng Zhao, the co-founder of Binance, delivered a keynote address emphasizing the future of Bitcoin as the dominant form of money.

During a fireside chat with David Bailey, CEO of BTC Inc., Zhao stated, "It will take a few generations to reach 100% Bitcoin adoption." He urged countries to embrace Bitcoin, arguing that those who "care about their money should care about the future of money."

Zhao acknowledged that many countries initially adopted an anti-Bitcoin stance, but he believes they are now reconsidering their positions due to the recognition of Bitcoin's borderless and transformative potential.

Advice for Countries and Organizations

Zhao offered specific advice for countries navigating the crypto landscape:

  • China: While predicting China's stance on Bitcoin is challenging due to its lack of transparency and a clear regulatory framework, Zhao suggested that China might utilize Hong Kong as a sandbox for crypto experimentation.
  • El Salvador: He recommended that El Salvador, a country with significant Bitcoin investments, adopt a multi-signature approach to safeguard its holdings, involving signers located in different parts of the world for enhanced security.

Advice for the United States

Zhao offered three key suggestions for the United States to strengthen its position in the crypto space:

  1. Reduce Regulatory Enforcement: Minimize excessive regulation through enforcement actions.
  2. Establish Clear Regulations: Develop a comprehensive and clear regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies.
  3. Invest in the Crypto Industry: Encourage and support the growth of the crypto industry through government investment.

Zhao's Focus on Education

Following his departure from Binance, Zhao has shifted his focus to education through Giggle Academy, an online educational platform that provides free, interactive learning experiences for children from grades 1 to 12.
