Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, the prominent venture capitalists behind Andreessen Horowitz, have each donated $2.5 million to Right For America, a super PAC that supports former President Donald Trump.
Recent Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings, reported by Bloomberg, reveal that these contributions are part of a larger trend of substantial donations aimed at enhancing Trump’s influence in critical swing states. In addition to his donation to the super PAC, Andreessen contributed $844,600—the maximum allowed by federal regulations—to Trump’s campaign and the Republican Party.
The venture capitalists’ backing of Trump aligns with what they refer to as the “little tech agenda,” advocating for policies that they believe benefit smaller tech companies and startups. However, their political engagement extends beyond support for Trump.
Interestingly, Horowitz has expressed intentions to make significant donations to Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign, though there are currently no records of these contributions in federal filings.
Right For America has raised an impressive $27.8 million and enters the final phase of the campaign season with $43.6 million in cash reserves. The PAC’s initiatives are focused on mobilizing voters in key states such as Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.
Among the largest contributors to Right For America are Isaac Perlmutter, former chairman of Marvel Entertainment, and his wife Laura, who together donated $25 million. Additionally, Marc Rowan, CEO of Apollo Global Management, contributed $1 million.
Other significant donors, such as Kelcy Warren, Andy Beal, and Diane Hendricks, have supported Turnout For America, another pro-Trump super PAC, which has raised $18.5 million. In contrast, the Republican Accountability PAC, which backs Kamala Harris, has raised $16.6 million, with notable support from donors like Netflix’s Reed Hastings.
As the campaign season progresses, the role of tech moguls in shaping political influence continues to draw attention and scrutiny.
