Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is making strides in the world of blockchain and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The airline has recently unveiled an expansion to its EY-ZERO1 NFT collection, catering to the growing popularity of Web 3.0 loyalty programs. The new 300-edition expansion, which launched today, offers an array of exciting benefits to EY-ZERO1 token holders. Among the perks are priority check-in, Etihad Guest Silver Tier Status, and a unique opportunity to stake their NFTs to earn valuable miles.

The EY-ZERO1 NFT collection initially launched in July 2022, providing exclusive benefits to the original NFT holders, including the prestigious Etihad Silver Tier status for one year and access to an exclusive NFT holders' event at the Yas Marina Circuit Formula 1 race.

However, the latest limited edition takes the experience to a whole new level by offering a wide range of digital and real-world rewards. Some of the notable benefits include a 12-month Etihad Guest Silver Tier Status, priority check-in, lounge access at Abu Dhabi International Airport, a 25% increase in earning Etihad Guest Miles, Etihad Virtual Club membership, and a personalized membership card.

Moreover, in a strategic move to capitalize on the growing interest in Web 3.0 loyalty programs, Etihad Airways plans to launch the "Horizon Club" program in September. The airline intends to introduce a staking-for-miles initiative, allowing community members to lock up their NFTs and earn Etihad Guest Miles, which can be redeemed for flights, upgrades, and other exciting bonuses. It is evident that NFTs are gaining traction in the aviation industry.

For instance, NFT ticketing company TravelX collaborated with Spanish airline Air Europa to launch a series of NFT tickets. Similarly, low-cost Argentinian carrier Flybondi also partnered with TravelX to offer all tickets as NFTs on the Algorand blockchain. Even Japan's airline giant All Nippon Airways (ANA) embraced NFTs by launching an NFT marketplace in late May.Etihad Airways sought assistance from its official Web 3.0 partner, Arcube, to develop its new NFTs. Meanwhile, infrastructure firm Crossmint will continue handling all cryptocurrency or credit card payments related to the airline.

With its innovative approach to NFTs and its upcoming Horizon Club program, Etihad Airways is proving to be at the forefront of leveraging blockchain technology and digital assets to enhance the travel experience and reward its loyal customers.

As Web 3.0 loyalty programs continue to gain momentum, Etihad Airways' foray into the NFT space underscores the aviation industry's growing interest in embracing blockchain technology to offer unique and rewarding experiences to its passengers.

The future of loyalty programs seems set to be revolutionized by the decentralized and inclusive nature of Web 3.0.
